Lesson 5: Problem 18
Problem: Make squares using the shapes shown below.
Some squares that we have made,
For a child who cannot see, we can show them an incomplete square like this demonstrated by Dr Yeap in the picture below.
Challenge:
1. Make squares of different sizes. (Promotes a systematic way of doing)
2. Can you make the same size square in all possible ways? (Promotes creative thinking)
Take away from this problem:
- In teaching measurement, we need to identify a unit to compare against it.
- Learning is thinking deeply rather than to gain more information!
